Thousands
of seabirds nest in Hawai`i each year to raise their young. You can
help save their offspring by turning off outdoor lights at night,
especially during the months of October and November when many
seabird chicks are emerging from their nests for their first solo
flights. These fledglings are attracted by bright lights and are
often maimed or killed due to their inexperience, colliding with cars
and power lines.
If you find an injured seabird, please place it in a small
covered box and immediately call your local
DLNR
Forestry and Wildlife office for more details.
Keep Hawai`i Wild. It's your heritage, too.
